Friday Night Coma is modern alt-country for the drive home after everything's closed — headlights on an empty two-lane, radio down low, and someone who isn't there anymore riding shotgun. The third project from independent label Quiet Giant Records, it deals in confessional storytelling: worn-in melodies, big-sky guitars, and plainspoken songs about the love that got away and the person you were when you had it.
The title track, "Friday Night Coma," sits right at the center of it — a lost-love song that names the whole project's mood — while "Sad Corners" walks the rooms where the memories still live. These aren't songs that pretend to be over it. They're songs about carrying it well.
It's music for the last hour of the night, and whatever road comes after.
